Mental Health Service (Intercultural Youth Scotland)

Availability : Edinburgh Wide

Who is this for?

12-25 young people of the global majority/racialized communities

Description

Our Mental Health Team offers a safe, culturally aware and totally free counselling service for Black the Global Majority’s youth, aged 12–25 across Scotland.

Here’s what makes our service special:

  • Culturally informed counselling: Our counsellors are specialists who understand the impact of racial trauma. We centre race and identity in the way we support young people; meaning your lived experiences aren’t ignored, they’re part of the conversation.
  • Confidential, person-centred support: Whether you’re dealing with anxiety, stress, identity issues, family, or just need someone to talk to, there’s no set “topic”; you bring whatever feels important.
  • Flexible access: Sessions are offered online, making it easier to reach us no matter where you are in Scotland.
  • Up to 10 free sessions: We provide a fixed number of sessions (depending on need), so you can explore and process issues without financial pressure.
  • Language support: If English isn’t your first language, we’ll try to match you with a bilingual counsellor because feeling heard in your own language matters.
  • Non-crisis, but caring: While our counselling isn’t for crisis intervention, if you ever feel you’re in urgent need, we guide you to NHS 24, your GP, or other 24/7 support services.
