Accessibility and Language Support

We have phased out our onsite accessibility language support tool and to continue supporting all of our users we’ve put together this guide to help you access similar tools directly from your browser or device.

These tools allow you to:

  • translate content
  • use screen readers
  • adjust text styling
  • and apply reading aids

We are committed to making our website accessible and ensuring everyone can benefit from the mental health and wellbeing information that we provide.  Please use the feedback function to let us know if any of the information below is incorrect.

Thank you for your understanding and support!

For users who need screen reading support, most browsers and devices offer built-in screen readers.

  • Google Chrome
    • You can install the ChromeVox screen reader extension for free from the Chrome Web Store here.
  • Microsoft Edge
    • Narrator, the screen reader built into Windows, works seamlessly with Edge. To activate it, press Win + Ctrl + Enter on your keyboard.
  • Safari (Mac)
    • VoiceOver is available on all Mac and iOS devices. To turn it on, press Cmd + F5 or go to System Preferences > Accessibility > VoiceOver.

For mobile users, you can use VoiceOver (iPhone) or TalkBack (Android) to read aloud content on our website, even when browsing through apps like Facebook.

If you need to adjust how text appears on our website—whether for larger fonts, different colours, or better contrast—your browser has built-in options, or you can use free extensions.

  • Google Chrome and Microsoft Edge
  • You can use extensions like Stylish or Reader Mode to customize font size, style, and background colours for better readability. These extensions are available in both the Chrome and Edge web stores.
  • Safari (Mac)
  • In Safari, click the “Reader” icon in the address bar to simplify the page and adjust text appearance, including size and colour.

You can also make text adjustments directly from your device settings:

  • Windows: Go to Settings > Ease of Access > Display to change text size and apply high-contrast themes.
  • Mac: Open System Preferences > Accessibility > Display to adjust the appearance of text and background colours.

If you use reading aids like highlighting or focusing on one line at a time, there are several tools that can help:

  • Microsoft Edge
  • Use Immersive Reader for features like text highlighting, line focus, and changing text spacing. To access it, right-click on a webpage and select “Open in Immersive Reader.”
  • Google Chrome:
  • You can install tools like Mercury Reader or Just Read to simplify the page and make it easier to focus on the text.

These tools create a cleaner reading experience by removing distractions, allowing you to adjust the text layout for better focus.
