Who is this for?

Our Djembe Drumming classes are open to adults aged 18+ and are suitable for complete beginners as well as people with previous drumming experience. No musical experience is required. We aim to make the sessions as inclusive and accessible as possible. If someone has additional support or accessibility needs, we encourage them to contact us so we can discuss how best to support their participation.

Description

Our West African Djembe Drumming classes are friendly, inclusive group sessions for adults, led by experienced Axé Boom Boom facilitators.
The sessions combine learning traditional West African rhythms with group playing, listening, coordination and plenty of opportunities to enjoy making music together.
No previous musical experience is needed, and participants can join at their own pace in a relaxed and supportive environment. The aim of the classes is to support wellbeing through music, movement and social connection.
Group drumming can help people feel more connected, improve confidence and concentration, provide a positive way to reduce stress, and create a sense of achievement and belonging. Alongside developing drumming skills, participants become part of a welcoming community where they can meet new people, have fun and enjoy a regular activity that supports both mental and physical wellbeing.
