Who is this for?
Woman who have exited the sex industry or experienced domestic violence
Description
You My Sister delivers ‘life changing’ mental health recovery programmes for:
- Women harmed in the sex industries
- Women who have experienced domestic abuse
The programmes are run:
- in Small groups
- Online
- 6 weeks
- 1 session/week
- Each session is 2.5 hrs
They take women through their journey, helping break isolation, move away from shame and self blame, process what happened and its impact and look to the future.
The programmes have been created and are delivered with women with lived experience following the globally acclaimed Recovery College. They do not provide formal therapy but many find them extremely therapeutic and that they can bridge the gap whilst waiting for formal therapy, sit well along side therapy and can even reduce the need and extent for other interventions.
The programmes are run by 2 staff members – at least one (often both) with lived experience.
The purpose of the programme is to support individuals to recover from abuse, break isolation and develop the tools to best self manage their own mental health.
