Description

The Springboard employability course is 5-week programme designed for a young people between 16-25 who are accessing homelessness services across Edinburgh. The course is primarily delivered through group work with 1:1 work taking place alongside. The main focus of the programme is enhancing participants employability skills through workshops on CV building, Job Interview Skills and Job Applications. Participants are also able to receive qualifications in Emergency First Aid at Work and Elementary Food Hygiene to help strengthen their CV. There are also workshops run around mental health and wellbeing as well as budgeting and money management. Social outings are scheduled every week to allow the participants to build lasting friendships. The course culminates in a 3 day Residential trip to an outdoor activity centre in the Scottish Highlands. During this trip participants are encouraged to push themselves out of their comfort zone and try their hand at exhilarating activities and challenges. One-to-one support is also part of the programme, which provides an opportunity to identify any additional needs and offer support to improve their welfare and wellbeing. The aim of the project is to provide a steppingstone to help the young people to plan towards personal development and decide on engaging productively in either education or work.
