Description
The Community Help & Advice Initiative (CHAI) supports people and communities across Edinburgh. We help and empower people through the provision of free, confidential, high quality, impartial advice, information and representation on welfare benefits, housing, employability, money issues and tenancy support.
Type of support:
- Benefit Checks
- Support with benefit applications
- Applying for emergency funding
- Appealing benefit decisions and representation at tribunal appeals
- Debt and budgeting issues
- Housing problems
- Negotiating repayment plans for rent or mortgage arrears
- Court representation for evictions and repossessions
- Representation for private tenancy disputes
- Referrals to other organisations for employability or support

As well as our office based advice services we operate within various city-wide settings including GP practices, hospitals, mental health and addiction recovery hubs and other health settings. Please see our website for further details.
