Who is this for?

Anyone over the age of 18 who is caring for someone with an eating disorder. The person you care for can be any age. You do not have to live with the person you care for.

Description

SupportED’s carer service offers support groups and befriending for anyone who is caring for someone with an eating disorder. SupportED also has a dedicated worker for carers and the services are led by trained volunteers.

The support groups are online twice a month and are a place for carers to come together and give and receive peer support. It is a place to share experiences and learn from others. The aim of the groups is to foster a sense of community amongst carers and support people to care for both themselves and the person they care for.

The befriending service is primarily over the phone, but can be adapted to individual needs. The befriending service is a place for you to discuss difficulties or issues you are having and receive emotional support. Befriending is a safe and confidential place. The aim of the befriending service is to prevent and decrease feelings of stress isolation in carers for people experiencing an eating disorder.
