This page contains different forms of online support including webchats, chatrooms, online forums and email.

Sane online forum

SANE’s online community and is a safe space for people to support one another and share your story. The forum is available 24 hours is monitored by SANE. Anyone is able to view posts.

In order to post yourself, you need an account and have to be 18 or over.

Opening times: Monday to Sunday, 24 hours a day


Breathing Space web chat pilot project

Breathing Space is a free, confidential phone and web-based service for people in Scotland experiencing low mood, stress, depression or anxiety. Message specialist advisors in real-time, as an alternative to phoning the Breathing Space phoneline.

Opening times: 24 hours at weekends (6.00 pm Friday – 6.00 am Monday)
Monday to Friday, 6.00 pm – 2.00 am

 


Childline online support – Ask Sam

You can write in with your problem and ‘Sam’ responds to a few letters each week. You can also read advice to people who have similar difficulties as you.

This service is available to anyone 19 and under.


Health Unlocked social network

A social network for people from all over the world with different health conditions. This online space is for people to support one another and find resources that can help you every day. Health Unlocked works with hundreds of charities to create a trustworthy and varied service.

Opening times: Monday to Sunday, 24 hours a day


The Mix webchat and email support

The webchat connects you with trained helpline supports so you can talk about any difficulty you may be having in a non-judgemental and supportive way. You can email the helpline at any time and the Mix team aims to respond within 24 hours.

Opening times: Monday to Sunday, 4.00 – 11.00 pm. Chats may not be connected after 10:15 pm.


Mental Health Forum

A forum for you to share experiences, ask questions or express emotions with people who know what’s it’s like to experience mental health difficulties.

Opening times: Monday to Sunday, 24 hours a day


TogetherAll online community

Together All is an online community of peers affected by anxiety, depression and other mental health difficulties. This online service has a range of self-help guides and resources as well as creative ways to express yourself among people who understand what you are going through.

Opening times: Monday to Sunday, 24 hours a day


Carers UK online forum

Carers UK online forum is a community of carers in the UK. The forum is moderated by volunteers, all of whom have caring experience themselves. The forum is for peer support and is not monitored by professionals. This forum is for people aged 18 years old and over.

Opening times: Monday to Sunday, 24 hours a day


Beat eating disorders webchat

Beat eating disorder’s webchat is monitored by trained advisors who will listen to your concerns in a non-judgemental way, provide you with support, and help you to decide what steps to take.

Opening times:

Monday to Wednesday, 9.00 am – 7:45 pm
Thursday,  4.00 – 7:45 pm
Friday,  9.00 am – 7:45 pm
Saturday to Sunday, 4.00 – 7.45 pm

No Panic chatroom

The No Panic chatroom is space for you to relax and chat with like-minded people. No Panic also hosts game nights via the chatroom.

Opening times: Every day, 24 hours a day


Self Injury Support webchat and email support

Self Injury Support’s webchat and email support are for women affected by self-injury. This could be something you or someone close to you are or have experienced.

Opening times: Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, 7.00 – 9.30 pm


Side by Side online community from Mind

Side by Side is an online community of peers who are also experiencing mental health and wellbeing difficulties. It is safe place to listen, share and be heard by people who understand what you are going through. You can access Side by Side 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Opening times: Side by Side is moderated daily from 8.30 am to midnight.


LGBT Youth Scotland webchat

LGBT Youth Scotland’s webchat feature allows you to chat with trained youth workers about difficulties you may be facing such as questioning your sexual identity, coming out and relationship issues to bullying and sexual health. This is a for people aged between 13 and 25.

Tuesday – 3.00 – 5.00 pm
Wednesday – 4.00 – 6.00 pm
Thursday – 6.00 – 8.00 pm
