Peer Work Course

This course is weekly, for 5 weeks. It is suitable for people who would like to learn more about using their own experience of recovery in an intentional way to accompany other people through their journeys.
Over the 5 weeks we aim to create a safe peer space for reflection and discussion so that participants can explore ideas relating to mental health peer work.
As well as the 3 hours each week in the course, participants should also expect to spend 1-2 hours a week on self study, reflective exercises and preparation for the coming week.
This course is suitable for people who would like to learn more about using their own experience of recovery in an intentional way to accompany other people through their journeys.

Session 2 – Peer Work, values, boundaries
Session 3 – Trauma
Session 4 – Power and sharing your story
Session 5 – Strengths, listening, attachment and endings

Peer Support Group Facilitators’ Meet Up

A regular meeting for Edinburgh’s Peer Support Group Facilitators.
This space is for people who facilitate peer support groups in Edinburgh. At these meetings we share challenges related to facilitating peer support groups, find solutions together, share resources and learn from each other. It’s peer support for the peers supporters! Workshop – Facilitating Peer Support Groups

- Coping with challenges and managing risk
- Self care for peer supporters

Peer Forum

These meetings are open to current peer practitioners in Edinburgh (paid or voluntary)
The peer forum is for people working or volunteering in a role that uses lived experience. It is a protected space to come together, share experiences and work to address issues that are important in peer roles. To attend or find out more please get in touch – victoria@capsadvocacy.org.
We may also use the points raised to direct the work of the Peer Community if directed by Peer Forum members.
Peer Community Steering Group

These meetings are open to representatives of Edinburgh based peer practitioners/ peer spaces.
The Peer Community Steering Group is an open meeting held each month to share and discuss updates on peer practice in Edinburgh and to steer the direction of the activities of the Peer Community.
