Step into summer with Walking Scotland’s Step Count Challenge
18 June 2026

This summer, iThrive Edinburgh is inviting people across Edinburgh to take part in a free 4-week Step Count Challenge starting Monday 6 July 2026.
It is a simple way to build more movement into your day, connect with others, and support your wellbeing in a way that feels realistic and achievable.
The challenge is open to anyone aged 16 and over. There is no set starting point. Whether you are already active or just thinking about moving more, you can take part in your own way.
Small changes to how we move each day can support both body and mind.
Moving your body
Walking regularly can support physical health. It can also help with mood, stress levels, and overall mental wellbeing. Even short walks can make a difference when done consistently.
Connecting with your community
Walking can help you feel more connected to your local area. It can create space to notice your surroundings and feel part of life in Edinburgh.
Finding your own pace
There is no pressure to hit a specific step count. Some people may start small and build up over time. Others may prefer to fit in short walks throughout the day in a way that works for them.
Get involved through iThrive Edinburgh and explore local wellbeing support, activities, and services available across the city.
