Song Bridge bringing together Ukraine and Scotland through music: Tuesday 25 August

17 August 2026

Song Bridge Kharkiv to Edinburgh poster

Join an uplifting concert that highlights the power of music to connect people across borders and generations.

At the heart of Song Bridge is a simple idea: bringing Kharkiv and Edinburgh, Ukraine and Scotland, together through music.

Seven young performers from the Veselka Ukrainian Folk Ensemble are travelling all the way from Kharkiv especially for this performance. Despite the difficult journey from Ukraine, visa arrangements and months of preparation, they are coming to Edinburgh to share their culture and bring the voice of young Kharkiv to the Fringe.

They will share the stage with Ukrainian singer from Edinburgh Marianna Melnyk, Scottish bagpiper Oliver Kemp, and the Hibernian Community Choir.

Ukrainian voices will meet Scottish bagpipes, and a Scottish community choir will even sing a Ukrainian folk song. For us, it is much more than a concert — it is about connection, cultural exchange, friendship and the power of music to bring communities together.
