Shaping Capacity Building of Social Prescribing in Edinburgh and the Lothians

21 August 2026

As part of our activities to mark 300 years of the University of Edinburgh’s Medical School, the EMS300 Community Connections team are bringing together those at the heart of social prescribing across Edinburgh and the Lothians for two events designed to build capacity and support transformation in the local sector.

The University of Edinburgh was one of the first universities in the world to offer social prescribing to the campus community and the first to accept referrals for local community members into their heritage-based social prescribing programme, Prescribe Culture.

Workshops on Wednesday 2 September will provide an opportunity to network, share challenges, and influence the legacy of community-connected healthcare.

In January 2027, we’ll share the findings through a further event open to a wider audience. Watch this space!

If you have any questions about the workshops please email the EMS300 Community Connections Co-Lead – Ruthanne.Baxter@ed.ac.uk
