2026 Call for Art: Take part in the Out of Sight Out of Mind exhibition

People with experience of having a mental health issue are invited to take part in the 14th Out of Sight Out of Mind exhibition, which will be held in October 2026 at Summerhall in Edinburgh.
This year, exhibitors will create their artwork on canvases supplied by the organisers. There is also the option to create a second artwork, which will be given away during the exhibition.
Everyone taking part will also be welcome to attend exhibition events, including an afternoon tea.
What’s included?
- Individuals and groups are welcome to take part.
- You will receive two flat canvas boards.
- One canvas will be displayed during the exhibition and can be collected afterwards.
- The second canvas is optional and will be given away during the exhibition.
- Draw, paint or create anything you like on your canvas(es) – any topic or style is welcome.
- This year’s Scottish Mental Health Arts Festival theme is ‘Reflections’, but you do not have to use this theme.
- It is free to take part. Please note that there will be no art materials grants this year.
- Your artwork does not need to be finished until it is brought to the exhibition in October.
- You can create your artwork in your own time or sign up for a supported art session on Wednesday 9 September, 1.30pm–3.30pm, at the Scottish Mental Health Research Centre (SMRC) in Dalry, Edinburgh.

Please ensure your form is received by Monday 31 August 2026 at 12 noon.
