Who is this for?
- For anyone looking to learn more about safe sleep for infants
Description
One of the Scottish Cot Death Trust’s core aims is to provide education for professionals and the public, which we do through our education arm “Safe Sleep Scotland”. We have a number of educational opportunities available:
- Safe Sleep training – we provide this for parents and early years care providers to help reduce the risk of sudden and unexpected death in infancy (SUDI) for the children in their care.
- SUDI Training – for health visitors, midwives, social workers and other professionals who work closely with families. This training provides information around the evidence base for safe sleep and how this translates into advice we should give parents. Sessions also cover what happens if a child is lost to SUDI, and how professionals can best support families in light of this.
- SUDI Simulation – for police, Scottish ambulance Service, NHS staff and others involved in the immediate period subsequent to the loss of a child to SUDI. This allows professionals to have real time experiential learning in the processes which surround a loss to SUDI and to ensure they provide compassionate, supportive care to families who experience this kind of loss.
Please do contact us if you are interested in any of our training, we are always happy to discuss provision.
Our website at safesleepscotland.org gives further information about safe sleep messages and the training opportunities available, or you can contact us at safesleep@scottishcotdeathtrust.org.
