Description

Highland Roots is Defence Gardens Scheme’s Scottish wellbeing programme for the Armed Forces community. Through one-day Cultivate and Connect workshops and longer horticultural programmes, participants connect with nature, learn practical gardening and traditional countryside skills, build confidence and friendships, and improve wellbeing in supportive outdoor environments. Activities are delivered by experienced practitioners in partnership with organisations across Scotland.

How do I access this?

  • Referral by third party

Individuals can register their interest directly or be introduced by an Armed Forces or community referral partner. Places must be booked in advance and are confirmed before each workshop. Attendance is subject to availability

Is there a cost?

All courses are free and no previous experience in horticulture is required.

Location information

Regular Cultivate and Connect workshops are delivered at the Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh, alongside additional Highland Roots activities across Scotland.
